I am Indie Love Gordon, a multi-award-winning entrepreneur, government consultant, UN delegate, and global speaker. As the founder of multiple brands, including Halo, a cutting-edge safety app launching in 2024, I am dedicated to ensuring continuous protection for women, students, and solitary workers. My passion as an entrepreneurial activist drives me to disrupt the current business ecosystem, creating more opportunities for rising stars to innovate and change the world. I am committed to cultivating spaces where unicorn companies can emerge, believing deeply that we all have the potential for greatness.
I remember a distinct moment when I realised I was different, not in a way that felt special, but in a way that felt burdensome. Even before I understood what labels meant, I had already harshly labelled myself. At the age of 10, I was introduced to the world of neurodivergence. In the past, I would have said I was "diagnosed" as if it were a condition that would prevent me from living a wildly wonderful and creative life.
I distinctly remember people telling my mother, "She will never be able to live a normal life; she is just so different." Hearing those words was heartbreaking, but they unknowingly became a powerful affirmation. Though I didn't realise it at the time, that sense of inadequacy would stay with me until I was forced out of my shell to empower others. In truth, my pain of being different wasn’t my story; it was the catalyst that would help others create their own happiness.
At the age of 10, I was introduced to the world of neurodivergence. In the past, I would have said I was "diagnosed" as if it were a condition that would prevent me from living a wildly wonderful and creative life.
I am a Black, neurodivergent, six-foot-tall, plus-size woman, and at times, it feels like the world is against me. I often feel as if I’m constantly fighting just to exist—not to shine, but simply to hold space. Even in those moments of sadness, I would occasionally experience fleeting feelings of light, power, and strength. These moments came in short waves, disappearing for what felt like days, months, or even years, only to reappear and remind me of an inherent greatness. It was a loud whisper, which I now recognise as God calling me.
I am not sure when I first realised my purpose, but I’ve always had a deep-seated feeling that I was put on this earth to help and advocate for others. I am the voice for those who believe they are voiceless.
In 2015, I started my first business. Everything I’ve created since has been centred around how I can enrich, protect, and build lives. Hope Nation was a brand designed to encourage those lacking confidence or motivation to live a fulfilling life. Initially, it was a clothing brand for plus-size and unique individuals who wanted to feel good in what they wore.
Over time, it evolved into a community platform that encouraged thousands of people to learn to love themselves. Once they embraced this love, they ventured into the world with wholeheartedness and eventually returned as ambassadors, ready to liberate others so that together, we could all shine.
I went on to launch my brand, "Just Do It Anyway." I recognise that some people haven’t had the opportunity to develop the tools to grow and thrive, so I wanted to create a place where I could help them do so in the safest way possible. We are an accountability-driven, supportive, and encouraging community of people who go above and beyond to ensure everyone thrives. But it doesn’t stop there.
In 2021, I was fortunate enough to become a government advisor at Number 10 Downing Street. This role allowed me to work with some of the most powerful people in office and local communities to create positive and impactful change for those who need it. In 2023, I was blessed with the opportunity to become a United Nations delegate, focusing on the Commission on Women’s Leadership, Education, and Technology. I will be present in all spaces to ensure we have the right representation to drive forward great change.
I often reflect on what the world can do to truly support the mental resilience and growth of rising stars, and honestly, I think it’s quite simple. People need to show up more, share success, and be willing to teach others. We must remember that the success we achieve doesn’t always come easily to others, and to see the world thrive, we have a duty to pass on as much knowledge, wisdom, and kindness as possible.
I am a Disruptor because I am prepared to reshape the world entirely and build a new foundation if it means the sins of our ancestors are not repeated by our legacy.
Today’s world can feel like it’s every person for themselves. But no one is an island; it takes a village, a community, to create a better world. I am determined to build an ecosystem of powerful individuals, both men and women, who are unapologetic about their strength, power, and ability to achieve and contribute great things to the world.
