Black Women Owned Beauty Brands

Being a black woman is one of the best things I love about myself. This journey didn’t start in a day and believe me, there are days I still feel insecure about being a black woman.

One of the most liberating things for me about being a black woman was seeing black owned beauty companies creating products that are not just catering to the needs of black women, but also sending powerful messages. Brands that are telling us that there is nothing wrong with our skin, we don’t need to try to adapt our identities to the societal ‘whitewashing’ most of us grew up experiencing. These companies are breaking stereotypes by creating products that black women can use. No more looking for foundation that doesn’t blend well with our skin, acne products that don’t work well with our skin and so on.

For those who dream of being beauty entrepreneurs, they can look at these companies and see that women like them are making it happen and so can they!

This is not an exhaustive list of black owned beauty brands – it’s not even close! We’ll be updating with more but in the meantime scroll for some black owned beauty brands you should know.
